Former Furniture Dealer Dies
Frank G. Buol, age 83, died Friday morning at 4 o'clock at the Christie Convalescent Home at Cedar Falls, from complications due to old age. He had been a patient at the Home since March 9, 1947, and ill for over a year.
He was born Aug. 8, 1864 at Saux City, Wis., son of John and Augusta Buol. He was married to Miss Mary Olson of Cedar Falls in 1900 in Wisconsin. They came to Dike shortly after. She preceded him in death in 1901. There were no children. Mr. Buol operated a furniture store and undertaking parlor in Dike from 1902 to 1930. In 1915 he built the building which now houses the Dike Legion Hall and also operated a photograph gallery and a rental library for a number of years. He retired from active business life in 1930. Mr. Buol was a well known stamp, coin and relic collector.
He leaves a sister, Mrs. Louisa King of Dike, brother, J. A. Buol of Olustee, Okla., a niece, Mrs. Will Davids of Dike and several nieces and nephews in South Dakota, Wisconsin and Oklahoma. One sister, Mrs. John See of Wisconsin, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Dike Methodist church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. H. Myron Braun officiating. Burial was in the Dike cemetery.
