Henry Flater Died Sunday

Henry Flater died at 12:30 Sunday afternoon at his home in Colfax township. His health had been failing for some time due to a weak heart condition. Only the last two weeks had his condition become serious. He was 72 years old.

Spent Most of Life In Grundy County
Mr. Flater spent nearly all of his life in Grundy county. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Flater. He was born in Ogle county, Ill., July 22, 1877. When he was 4 years old he came with his family to Grundy county. They located on a Grundy county farm and he spent the remainder of his life here.

On August 22, 1907, Henry Flater and Jennie Schieveld were married. They started life together on a farm in Section 1, Colfax township, and that remained their home continually. Mr. Falter was a good farmer, a good neighbor, a good citizen and a kind and considerate husband and father.

Father of Seven Children
Mr. and Mrs. Flater became the parents of seven children. Five of them are living. Surviving are the wife and five sons. The sons are Melvin, at home, Conrad, Albert and Ernest of Grundy Center, and Christ at Reinbeck. He was preceded in death by two children, by his parents, by three brothers and two sisters. Other surviving relatives are a brother, August, Grundy Center, and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Gerloff, Holland, and Mrs. Tom Freese, Grundy Center.

Funeral Services Wednesday
Funeral services were held at the home at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon and later at Salem Lutheran cemetery. The services were conducted by the local pastor, Rev. Alfred Schumm.
