Carl H. Bern Dies At Reinbeck

Carl H. Bern, who for many years lived on a farm 2 1/2 miles west of Lincoln in Tama county, died at his home in Reinbeck on Friday. He was 83 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church in Reinbeck Monday afternoon. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery, south of Lincoln.

Mr. Bern was born in Holstein, Germany, May 28, 1866. He came to this county at the age of 24. In 1891 he was married. He and his wife made their home on the farm west of Lincoln until 1920, when they moved to Reinbeck.

He was preceded in death by three sisters in Germany, one stepson, Albert, one daughter and two brothers. Surviving are his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Lillie Rehder, Mrs. Selma Schulz, Mrs. Katie Wrage, all of Lincoln; Mrs. Norma Albert, Reinbeck; one son, Carl Jr., Reinbeck; stepsons, Julius, Reinbeck; Harry, Independence; one stepdaughter, Alfrieda Lorenz; 29 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
