August Siefken Passes Away at His Home at Holland
August Siefken has joined the great yet silent majority.
He had been in his accustomed good health, and had stepped outside the door of his home when it seems he was suddenly overcome and motioning to his son John, with whom he was staying, he indicated that he wanted help and wished to be taken into the house. His request was complied with, but as he was placed upon a bed, death had laid his cold and chilling hand upon him, and his spirit had left him.
Born in East Friesland, he located in Grundy county at an early day, and was among the best known of Grundy's people. He had reared an excellent family; his wife preceded him in death by several years. Four sons and a daughter survive; they are Rudolph, of Parkersburg; Rencho, of Conrad; Henry, John and Mrs. Snitjer, of Holland. Dietrich and Caroline are deceased.
He was 77 years of age. Funeral services were held Thursday, the remains being interred in the cemetery at Holland, Iowa.
