Mrs. LaRue Dies at Eldora

Mrs. Fannie LaRue, aged 85 years, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. N. Schwarck, in Eldora, death being due to influenza. Mrs. LaRue's maiden name was Fannie Bonker and she was born in Vermont May 22, 1842, coming with her parents to Illinois when she was 15 years old, and in 1880 with her husband she moved to Iowa, settling in Melrose township, Grundy county, where they resided for a number of years. Mr. LaRue died 27 years ago. Mrs. LaRue is survived by three children; Edward LaRue, of Malta, Mont., Albert LaRue, of Bisbee, N.D., and Mrs. C. N. Schwarck, of Eldora. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church in Eldora.

Mrs. Fannie LaRue

Mrs. Fannie LaRue, daughter of Lyman and Elizabeth Bowker, was born in Vermont, May 22nd, 1842 and passed from earth March 10th, 1928, aged 85 years, 9 months and 17 days.

At the age of fifteen years she moved to Rock Island County, Ill. On Feb. 16th, 1865, she was married to Martin LaRue at Rock Island, Ill. To this union eight children were born. Two children died in infancy. Forest died at the age of 19 years in Grundy County; Cora Wilcox died in 1906 in Grundy Co., and Elizabeth Heuhn died in 1916 in Hardin county. Three children survive; Edward, of Malta, Mont., Maud Schwark of Eldora and Bert of Bisbee, N.D. There are ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren living. Ethel Frazier, a relatives, was taken into the home when fourteen months old and taken care of and educated until she reached womanhood and was married to John Schweizer. Mrs. Schweizer has been living with her husband in Houston, Texas during recent years.

In 1880 Mr. and Mrs. LaRue and children moved to Grundy County, Iowa. In 1900 Mr. LaRue passed from earth. In 1908 Mrs. LaRue moved to Eldora and lived with her daughter, Mrs. Maud Schwarck, whose kind and faithful ministrations did so much to render her comfortable during her declining years.

While living in Grundy County Mrs. LaRue was a member of the Melrose Methodist church and upon moving to Eldora, became and continued a member of the Eldora Methodist Church. She was an active, faithful and consistent church member, always ready to do her part.

The last ten years of her life knew much distress but she never became discouraged. She was glad to have her many friends call, was deeply appreciative of their interest and remained cheerful and patient unto the end.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. Mitchell, assisted by Rev. Kinney, and burial in the Eldora cemetery.
