Mrs. DeSeelhorst Rites Wednesday

Services for Mrs. Floyd (Wava) DeSeelhorst, 75, who died Sunday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Msgr. John Smith officiated at the service. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Wallace Norman, George Rohwer, Dean Schultz, Harold Voss, Clarence Schultz and Francis Dwyer.

Ferree-Oltmann Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. DeSeelhorst was born on May 30, 1897 in Grundy Center, the daughter of Elmer and Etta (Condon) Mertz. She was married to Floyd DeSeelhorst on July 15, 1926 in Grundy Center.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic church, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, SK Club, a former 4-H club leader for many years and a past organist and choir director at Sacred Heart.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd, and two brothers, Raymond Mertz of Grundy Center and Arthur Mertz of Glenview, Ill.
