James L. Cox, 84, Lifelong Resident, Buried Wednesday
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. this Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for James L. Cox, 84, of Grundy Center, who died Monday evening at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck.
Msgr. John J. Smith officiated the service. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery, Grundy Center.
Casket bearers were John Beenken, Harold Lynch, William Slater, Carl Dudden, Donald Stull and Dale Bee.
James Lawrence Cox was born Sept. 27, 1883, in Lincoln township, the son of John and Rachel Place Cox.
He farmed in Grundy county until 1966, when he retired and moved to Grundy Center. He had been a resident of the Reinbeck nursing home for 16 months.
Survivors include one son, James E. Cox, Grundy Center; two daughters, Helen, Mrs. Harold Wohlert, and Miss Marie Cox, both of Waterloo, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Pearl Stackhouse and a brother, Vance Cox, both of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Tresa Pollard, whom he married October 11, 1910, at Grundy Center. Mrs. Cox passed away December 18, 1960.
The deceased also was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
