Harry Wegstein Dead

Harry Wegstein passed away at his home in this city Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the age of 52 years, 1 month and 18 days. Monday morning at about 10 o'clock while in the rear of the Canfield harness shop Harry became unconscious. Dr. Carpenter was immediately called and he was at once removed to his home in the northeast part of town, where every thing was done for him that could be done, but he remained unconscious to the end which came at 9:30 Tuesday forenoon.

Harry suffered a great deal the past two or three years from stomach trouble which finally ended in diabetes, which it is understood was the immediate cause of his death.

Harry was a quiet unassuming fellow, ever ready with a pleasant word and a helping hand and was greatly liked by those who knew him best, and will be greatly missed especially in the home circle.

Harry Wegstein was born in Long Island, New Jersey, August 20, 1860. When quite young he came west with his parents to Waterloo where he lived four years, also living for short periods at Cedar Falls, Laporte City and Traer, coming to Grundy Center in 1877, where he has continuously lived up to the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his loss his aged mother, four sisters, Mrs. Frank Wass, and Mrs. Rigler of this city, Mrs. Scotthorn of Fairbury, Nebr., Miss Anna Weigstein of this city also one brother Otto Wegstein of Grundy Center.

The funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in this city at 9:30 today, Rev. Father Hogan conducting the service, and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery west of town.

Through respect to Harry the business places were closed during the funeral services.

Those from out of town who were here to attend the last sad rites were Mrs. Robt. Scotthorn and children of Fairbury, Nebr., Mrs. Chris Knoope of Traer, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Verhey of Orchard, Iowa.
