Donald R. Stull, 86

Donald R. Stull, 86, formerly of Grundy Center, died November 2 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab. Center.

Funeral services were November 6 at the Beaman United Methodist Church in Beaman. Burial was at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Grundy Center. The Grundy Center American Legion Post #349 and AMVETS #17 provided full military honors.

Donald was born June 3, 1915 in rural Beaman, the son of Clarence and Jennie (Rowe) Stull. He graduated from Beaman High School in 1933, then attended Iowa State University where he studied engineering.

He was a veteran of WWII, entering the Army in 1941 serving as an Auto Mechanic and combat infantryman with the 34th division Red Bull Battalion in the Africa and Italy theaters. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945 earning three Bronze Stars. He returned to Grundy County where he resided in Grundy Center.

In the late 1940s and early 50s he owned and operated Stull Motor Company of Grundy Center, selling Hudson Motor Cars and also Stull DX Station. On December 27, 1954, he was united in marriage to Loretta Connell in Grundy Center. He then went into the dry cleaning and laundry service, owning several businesses in the North Central Iowa Area, including Don's Cleaners in Grundy Center from the early 70s until he retired in the late 80s. He moved to Eldora in 1999.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters; a son; a sister; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.
