Services Held For Duane Greany On Wednesday, April 10

E. Duane Greany, 80, of Grundy Center, passed away on Monday, April 8, 1996, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, of natural causes.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. Father John Kissling officiated the service.

Pallbearers were Jerry Bakker, Shawn Wardall, Marlyn Abels, Paul Goodnow, Curtis Lee and Les Muller.

Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

A Wake Service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center.

Duane was born on June 18, 1915, the son of Earl and Hazel (Huisman) Greany in Wellsburg. On June 10, 1942, he was united in marriage with Eva Aldrich in Garwin, Iowa.

Duane was a Math Teacher in the Garwin School District, associated with Goodyear Tire, and owner/operator of a Pontiac, Buick, and GMC dealership in Grundy Center for several years. Duane served as a Grundy County Magistrate before retiring.

Duane joined the local Rotary Club in 1946, and was active in the local, district, and International Rotary Club. He served as Grundy Center Rotary Club President and Secretary/Treasurer and was a Paul Harris Fellow, a recognition of Duane's substantial contribution to Rotary's humanitarian and educational programs.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Eva, of Grundy Center; one daughter Joyce Wardall and husband Bob of San Diego, California; two sons; Jerry Greany and wife Connie of Leawood, Kansas; and Bob Greany and wife Jan of Grundy Center; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the professional arrangements.
