Mrs. Schelling Died Sunday

Mrs. Lucinda Margaret Schelling, died Sunday afternoon, October 16, 1977 at 5:40 o'clock in the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial hospital, having attained the age of 81 years and 21 days.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Heart catholic church with Rev. Monsignor Maurice a. Mullan officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, Robert Schelling, James Schelling, Gary Eldridge, Ronald Schelling, Rodney Ragsdale, Bill Eldridge, Randy Ragsdale and Todd Schelling. Ushers were Don Coleman and Joseph Hulne. Floral attendants were Mrs. Amos Albright and Mrs. Irvin Stumberg. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery, Grundy Center.

She was born September 25, 1896 in White Church, Missouri, the daughter of John and Lucinda Elderinghoff Boss. On February 8, 1918 she was united in marriage to John Schelling at White Church, Mo. Following their marriage they farmed near Lincoln, Iowa for four years, then farmed in the Whitten and Eldora area before retiring to a farm near Lincoln again in 1959. They stayed there until retirement in 1959 when they moved to Grundy Center. Mr. Schelling preceded his wife in death September 12, 1970. She continued to live alone until January 26, 1974 when she became a resident of the L.T.C. Unit of the Grundy hospital.

Survivors are two sons, Kenneth of Marshalltown and Donald of Grundy Center, two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Edith) Eldridge of Iowa Falls, Mrs. Bill (Barbara) Ragsdale of Grundy Center, two brothers, Ted Boss of Beaman and John Boss of Buffalo, Mo., three sisters, Mrs. Alice Connell of Winona, Minn., Mrs. Herman (Hilda) Stein of West Plains, Mo., Mrs. Ted (Jeanette) Gilliam of Peace Valley, Mo., 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Schelling was a member of the Sacred Heart catholic church and St. Martha's Society. A public rosary was recited at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home Tuesday evening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Norma, one brother and one sister.
