Edward Cullinan Rites Saturday

Funeral services for Edward T. Cullinan, who died quite suddenly at his home in Grundy Center on Wednesday of last week, were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center at 9:30 Saturday morning. The services were conducted by Rev. Fr. Weydert. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Death came very suddenly at his home from a third heart stroke. He suffered his first stroke seven years ago, from which he seemed to have entirely recovered. The second stroke came on Saturday before his death. Following that stroke he went to the hospital for a cardiagraph. His doctor advised him then to remain quietly at his home, which he did. His doctor was present when he died without any previous warning.

Mr. Cullinan was 58 years old on the 25th of last January. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Cullinan. He was born at Delavan, Ill., January 25, 1897. Fifty-one years ago he came with his family to Grundy county, and this had been his home ever since. The family lived on a farm northeast of Grundy Center a number of years, after which they moved to Grundy Center where Edward attended school.

On June 12, 1923, Edward Cullinan and Isabel Fisher were married in Delavan, Ill. They made their home continually in Grundy Center. For several years Mr. Cullinan was employed at the Sander Cleaning establishment and for 21 years he had supervised the asparagus field on the Boies farm a mile southwest of Grundy Center.

Surviving are the wife and two daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Donald Messenger, Moorhead, Ia., and Mrs. Vigil Volkens, Gladbrook. Other surviving members of the family are five grandchildren; one brother, John, Grundy Center, and one sister, Mary Cullinan, Greene, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
