Funeral Held Friday For Leo Connell

Leo P. Connell, 73, died Tuesday night, August 27, at his rural Conrad home.

A public rosary was held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad and mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grundy Center, by Rev. Fr. Paul Grace.

Organist was Mrs. Rita Fisher and Parris Reece was soloist.

Casketbearers were Orville Stover, Verne Reece, Larry Weatherman, Edward Reece, Hershel Edwards and William Conrad. Honorary casketbearers were Leo Zern, H. Don Martin, Jim Molloy, Warren King, William Friend and Richard Lynch.

Marjorie Stover, Darlene Reece and Gladys Reese were flower attendants.

Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Mr. Connell was born January 28, 1912, in Conrad, the son of Martin and Nora Ryan Connell. He attended school in Conrad and spent his entire life in the Conrad area.

He married Louise Prochazka in Marshalltown on June 1, 1941.

Leo was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grundy Center; Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. No. 312, Marshalltown; and Oakwood County Club, Conrad.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Nicola (Mrs. Kanneth) Danzer, Colfax; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Rouse and Loretta (Mrs. Don) Stull, both of Grundy Center; and one brother, Raymond Connell, also of Grundy Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son Michael Patrick, one sister and one brother.

Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
