Tressa Connell

The death angel came early Wednesday morning and touched the tired eyelids of Teresa Connell and she peacefully fell asleep, surrounded by her sorrowing relatives.

Teresa Frances Connell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Connell, was born on a farm near Beaman, Iowa, Nov. 25th, 1900. When four years of age she with her parents moved to Doran, Minnesota, where she resided until Oct. 1913 when she returned to Grundy Center, where she has since made her home.

She attended the Grundy Center High School and graduated with high honors with the class of 1919. Since her graduation she has been a successful teacher in the schools of Grundy county.

Although a sufferer of diabetes for some time past, those of us who had knew "Tess" as she was called by companions and who were with her most, can hardly realize that she is dead.

She was never known to complain keeping up her cheery disposition to the last.

Her career though short was perfect resignation to God's holy will.

Besides the bereaved father and mother, she leaves four sisters. Sister Mary Adrienne of Dubuque, Mary, Lucy, and Gertrude at home. All were at her bedside, except Sister Mary Adrienne, who had just returned to Dubuque a few days before.

On Tuesday morning after having been comforted by the last rites of her church, administered by her faithful pastor, she closed her eyes as her life tide slowly ebbed away until the end came at four Wednesday morning.

And so she died --Died?--Who calls this death--this passing from our sight? Has she not but gone a little ways ahead and there, in the bright sunshine of eternal spring, is she not waiting and praying for us?

The funeral which was conducted by her pastor Rev. T. J. Norris, at Sacred Heart church Friday morning was made doubly sad, owing to the fact that her mother was sick and not able to attend the funeral.

Her six cousins acted as pallbearers, and she was laid to rest in St. Joseph's cemetery beside her brother, Elmer, who preceded her in death five years ago.

May her soul rest in peace.
