Family Are Doubly Afflicted

Mrs. James Connell Follows Her Daughter in Death

When it was announced that Mrs. James Connell had passed away Tuesday afternoon of this week the deepest sympathy for the afflicted family spread over the entire community.

Only last week a daughter was called and now within only a few short days the Death Angel has again visited the home and taken the loving wife and mother.

Alice Hogan was born in Tazwell county, Ill., June 17, 1867, and died at her home in Grundy Center, Iowa, October 26, 1920, after a short illness which she bore with great patience. She often spoke of death and welcomed its approach, so at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by her loved ones she went to sleep, the sleep of the just.

On February 9th, 1892 she was married to James Connell, and to this union were born nine children, five of whom have preceded their mother in death. Those left to mourn with their father are Sister Mary Adierenne, of Dubuque, Mary, Lucy and Gertrude at home.

The funeral was held from Sacred Heart Church, this morning conducted by her pastor, Rev. T. J. Norris and the remains were laid to rest in St. Joseph cemetery beside her son and daughter.

"May her soul rest in peace."

The following out-of-town relatives were present at the funeral, James Hogan, of Fairbury, Ill., a brother of Mrs. Connell, Mrs. Mary Powers, of Emmetsburg; Mrs. Elizabeth O'Connor and Mary O'Conner of Waterloo.
