Don Coleman Services Held

Donald A. Coleman passed away Tuesday, December 29, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo having attained the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 3 days.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 31, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center at 2 p.m. with Father John M. Kissling officiating.

Pallbearers were Chuck Thoren, Dick Cole, D. J. Lawless, Don Kramer, Mike Peyton, and Larry Cole.

Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Donald Ambrose Coleman was born March 26, 1922, at Ryan, Iowa, the son of Joe and Marie (Duggan) Coleman. He was united in marriage to Jeanean Mary McCormick in Marion on September 30, 1952.

Don was associated with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 45 years. He worked in Cedar Rapids and Eldora with the company until 1954 when he came to Grundy Center to manage Watters Tire Company. From 1966-1988 he owned and operated Don's Tire and Appliance in Grundy Center. He retired in November 1988.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Duane and Pat Coleman; and by one sister, Arbutus Robinson.

Survivors include his wife Jeanean; two sons, Dennis of Grundy Center, and Ronald and his wife Lori of LaCrescent, MN; one daughter, Kathleen and husband Evan Petersen of Grimes; two granddaughters, Natalie and Rachel Coleman; two grandsons, Eric and Jacob Petersen of Grimes; and three sisters, Arlene Kramer of Earlville, Vanietta Cole and Phyllis Peyton, both of Manchester.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
