Heart Attack Ends Life Friday For Mike Catherwood

Michael Catherwood died suddenly at his home in Grundy Center about 9:30 Friday night. He was ready to take lunch in the kitchen when he was suddenly stricken and fell from a chair. He was dead when the doctor arrived. While he had not been in good health the past year, he had not previously had a heart attack. He was 60 years old on the 2nd of last month.

The body was taken to the Ferree funeral home where funeral arrangements were made. There was a rosary service at the funeral home at 7:30 Monday evening. Funeral services were at the Catholic church in Grundy Center Tuesday forenoon with Rev. Fr. P. C. Bodensteiner officiating. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Michael Vincent Catherwood was born in Ireland, December 2, 1899. He came to America and Grundy county as a young man. On June 8, 1927, Michael Catherwood and Sylvia Senenfelder were married at Grundy Center. They resided in this vicinity during all of their married life. During his active lifetime he was employed as a section hand on the Rock Island railroad, and served in other positions as a day laborer.

Surviving are the wife, one daughter, and five sons. The daughter is Mrs. Robert Beenken from Morrison. The sons are Michael and Donald, Grundy Center; Robert and Lawrence, Artesia, California, and Gerald, who is with the U.S. Army in Germany.
