Death Comes Monday For Mrs. Ed Baldwin At Home
Mrs. Ed Baldwin died at her home in Grundy Center Monday afternoon following a short illness of the heart. The attack came on Saturday and the condition of the patient was very serious from the beginning. Mrs. Baldwin would have been 79 years old the coming September.
Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grundy Center at 9 o'clock Thursday morning. Solemn requiem mass will be sung with Rev. Albert J. Forster, local pastor, as celebrant; Rev. John Connell of St. Anthony, nephew of the deceased, as deacon; Rev. Al Schmeetz, of Buffalo Center, former pastor here, as sub-deacon. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery at Grundy Center.
Was Born in Ireland
Mrs. Baldwin's maiden name was Margaret Connell. She was born in County Waterford, Ireland, Sept. 14, 1857. She came to this country when she was 18 years of age and made her home in Illinois. She was married to Edward Baldwin at Delavan, Ill., in 1880. They resided in Illinois during the first 22 years of their married life. In 1902 they moved to Grundy county and resided on a farm until 1923 when they moved to Grundy Center.Surviving are the husband and six children. The children are Mrs. Katherine Brown, Pekin, Ill., Mrs. Albert Hanisch, Reinbeck; Mrs. Fred Clark, Edw. Jr., Nora and Nellie, all of Grundy Center. There are two brothers, James Connell Sr. of Grundy Center and William Connell of Beaman.
Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral are Mrs. Kate Brown, Mrs. George Hervig and Mrs. Cecil Sours, Pekin, Ill., Clarence Hanisch, Buffalo Center.
