Ed Baldwin Dies Saturday Night After a Long Illness

Ed Baldwin died at his home in Grundy Center Saturday evening following an illness of most of the past year from cancer. He was 81 years old.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grundy Center at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. Solemn high mass was offered with the Rev. Albert J. Forster as celebrant, the Rev. J. C. Wieneke of Cedar Falls as deacon, and the Rev. J. H. Richards from Blessing as sub-deacon. Burial was in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mr. Baldwin was a native of Illinois. He was born at Pekin, Jan. 18, 1855. On Sept. 14, 1875, he was married to Margaret Connell, who died on the 23rd of March of this year. Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin began housekeeping on a farm near Pekin. They remained there until 1902 when they moved to Grundy county. They located on a farm in the southwest part of the county. They remained on a Grundy county farm until December, 1924, after which they family moved to Grundy Center.

Surviving are one son and five daughters. The son is Edward Baldwin, Jr., of Grundy Center. The daughters are Nora and Nellie Baldwin, Grundy Center; Mrs. Kate Brown, Pekin, Ill.; Mrs. Albert Hanisch, Reinbeck; Mrs. Fred Clark, of Grundy Center.
