Abraham H. Bute No More

Abraham H. Bute was born in Fayette county, Pa., in 1840. When sixteen years old he shouldered a musket and became one of the boys in blue, nor did he lay it down until slavery was abolished and our country preserved. After the war he came west, settling in Grundy county, a few miles southeast of this city, where he lived until last fall. Soon after settling there he married Catherine Booth, and a daughter and two sons blessed their wedded life. Mr. and Mrs. Bute moved into our city last fall, but fate had it that his residence here was to be of short duration, and death claimed him Sunday morning. The daughter and one son are married and the other son is with the mother in the home from which the noble husband and father has been taken.

Those who knew Abram H. Bute say that his whole life has been exactly like the first years of his young manhood--he battled for the right in all things and those who mourn have the earnest sympathy of our people in their grief and affliction.--Eldora Ledger
