Mr. J. W. Cooley died very suddenly Saturday evening after a short illness. The funeral service was held in the M.E. church on Tuesday afternoon. The following relatives of the deceased were in attendance at the funeral. A brother George Cooley of Adeline, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Bert Garman of Adeline, a sister Mrs. Conrad Stuckenburg and son Lewis of Byron, Ill., Mr. Jacob Heiston and Mrs. Jacob Breaw of Harvy, Ill.
John W. Cooley, the subject of this obituary, was born at Pine Creek, Ogle County, Illinois, Jan. 6, 1846, departed this life Oct. 31, 1903, at the age of 57 years, 9 months and 25 days. He was united in marriage to May F. Hiestand, Jan. 6, 1870. To this union were born seven children, one of which preceded the father fifteen years ago. The greater part of his life was spent in his native state coming to this state twelve years ago.

Death of J. W. Cooley
J. W. Cooley, an old settler of Grundy county died very suddenly at his home in Morrison Saturday night. He was about town in the afternoon and complained some of not feeling well. The remainder of the family except one in the house went to church in the evening. Before their return he received a heart stroke and fell heavily against the lounge. He never regained consciousness and died within a few minutes thereafter. Funeral services will be held at Morrison Tuesday and remains will be laid in the town cemetery.
Mr. Cooley was an old soldier about 60 years of age and moved to Morrison from his home near there a year ago.
He is survived by a wife and six children, three boys and three girls.
