Mrs. Edward Ranger, whose maiden name was Caroline Celeltial Pitcher, daughter of Aaron and Anna Pitcher, was born at Auburn, N.Y. September 20, 1832 and died at her home two and a half miles south of Grundy Center, March 20, 1909. She was one of a family of ten children, only four of whom are now living; Charles Henry, Elizabeth Ann, Helen and Cornelia Marion. She was united in marriage to Edward Ranger, at Farmington, Wiscon. To this union were born three children, William Edward, George Edgar and Rosealtha.
The family came to Grundy Center in an early day. There were only nine houses in Grundy Center at the time they settled here. Mrs. Ranger lived a very quiet retired life; she was highly regarded by all her neighbors as a kind friend, an affectionate wife and a loving mother.
The funeral services were held from the home on Monday afternoon at 1:30 Rev. J. F. Black conducting the services. The burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery.
Those attending the funeral of Mrs. Edward Ranger from out of town were Messrs Fred and Irvin Pitcher, nephews from Minnesota, Mrs. Ella Jorgenson, a niece from Algona and Mr. David Lanterman from Iowa Falls.
