Emma Persons Johnson was born September 24, 1875 and died in Grundy county, March 22nd 1909 at 1:25 a.m. She was married September 24th, 1898 to Fred H. Johnson. To this union five children were born. Two of whom have preceded her to her heavenly home.

She was taken ill about four years ago with what proved to be consumption, the wasting effects of which caused her death. During her long period of suffering she maintained a cheerful spirit, and seemed to be master of the trouble with which she had to fight. But soon the ravages of the disease weakened her until she had to succumb. While she was able she was a regular attendant upon church and always lived a good consistent Christian life. She was conscious to the last, and with her loved ones around her joyfully slipped away to her eternal home.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Fred H. Johnson, three children, Pearl, Glenn and Arthur, a sister, also an aged father and three brothers in Sweden.

The funeral services were held in the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. H. P. Chaffee officiating.
