Mrs. G. W. Tower

Francis Ellithorpe Tower was born in 1826, and died March 18, 1909 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Size, Marshalltown, Iowa.

She was married in 1845 to G. W. Tower in LaPorte, Ind. After their marriage they lived at that place until the year 1854, whence they removed to Illinois and in 1856 removed to Marshalltown. They came to Grundy Center in 1876 and lived here for seven years, after which time they removed to Marshalltown where she lived until the day of her death. At the age of nineteen she united with the Christian church and was a faithful, consistent member during the days of her life.

She leaves to mourn her death 6 children, four daughters and two sons. Seven children have preceded her to the great beyond. She leaves also 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. The children who are living are: Mrs. W. A. Size, Mrs. Monroe Anson, Frank Tower, all of Marshalltown, Ia., Mrs. C. P. O'Neal, Carroll, Ia., G. W. Tower, Joliet, Ia., Mrs. C. E. Ringer, Herman, Minn. all of whom were at the bedside when she passed away.

The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Size, 1901 West Summit St., Marshalltown. The remains were brought to Grundy Center for interment. Rev. H. P. Chaffee officiating.
