Lola I. Hughes, 85, formerly of Conrad, died November 30 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Private family services were December 3. Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Lola's name for Civic benefit.

Lola was born January 9, 1920, the daughter of Orval E. and Lura B. (Bockes) Clinite. On March 12, 1938, she was united in marriage to Jack L. Hughes. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Charles) Adams and Sandra (Stephen) Simms; a son, Dennis R. Hughes; a sister, Anabel Speicher; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Thelma Clinite and Ione Borton; and a brother, Donald Clinite.
