Paul J. O'Connor, 81, of Reinbeck, died November 29 at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck. Services were December 2 at Holy Family Parish St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dike with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Dike. Memorials may be made to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or the Dike Library.

He was born September 15, 1924, son of Edward E. and Anna Luella Thornton O'Connor. He married Helen Marie Wellner May 8, 1954 in Waterloo. Paul was a farmer in Grundy County for all of his life. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Paul E. (Ann) of Reinbeck, William (Paula) of Strafford, MO, Edward (Miriam) of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert (Barbara) of Fort Dodge, Dennis (Kris) of Sioux Falls, SD, Michael (Juli) and Daniel (Emily) all of Harrisburg, SD; five daughters, Rebecca (Joseph) Wilson of Hudson, Patricia (Michael) Freese of Stout, Cynthia Gates of Independence, Margaret (Robert) Stalzer of Laurel and Emily (Randal) Schieltz of Madrid; 44 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Theresa Bennett of Lakewood, CO and Mary Jo (Paul) Schreck of Reinbeck; and two brothers, Thomas E. (Gisela) O'Connor of Sioux City and James M. (Mary) O'Connor of Phoenix, AZ.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Emily O'Connor; a son-in-law, Robert Gates and a brother-in-law, Stanley Bennett.
