Charles A. Rabbitt, 71, of Conrad, died July 1 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center where he had been under the care of the MMSC Staff and Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services were July 3 at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.

Charles was born in Fort Dodge on June 11, 1933, the son of Michael and Ione (McCormack) Rabbitt. He attended school in Fort Dodge, graduating high school in 1952. He continued his education at Fort Dodge Junior College, before enlisting in the United States Army in April 1953. Charles was honorably discharged in April 1955. On November 25, 1953, Charles was united in marriage to Beverly J. Hilton. Charles was employed at Marshall Print for 15 years. He and Beverly owned and operated restaurants in Conrad for 22 years, That Place and the Country Inn. Charles was employed at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center for the past 11 years.

He is survived by his wife; his son; three daughters including Denise Rabbit and fiance Dave Bonzer of Wellsburg; nine grandchildren; a brother; and four sisters.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister.
