Verna A. Dowden-Parker, 94, of Conrad, died April 24 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral services were April 27 at Conrad United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Conrad Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Oak Estate, Conrad and Conrad United Methodist Church.

Verna was born May 26, 1909 to John H. and Mayme Ramont Vieth. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1927 and attended Iowa State College. She taught school for two years in Jasper County. On July 3, 1930, she married Delbert H. Dowden. They farmed by Laurel and then by Conrad until retiring in 1958. Delbert passed away in 1982. She married Robert F. Parker on September 14, 1986.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; one sister; and one step-son.

She is survived by two children; four stepchildren; one stepdaughter-in-law; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
