Ellen F. Aswegan, 88, of Grundy Center, died April 21 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center. Memorial services were April 24 at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Ellen was born July 24, 1915, the daughter of John and Margaret (Blackford) Ash in Grundy Center. Ellen was united in marriage to John Aswegan on December 17, 1933. Ellen worked at Richelieu for a number of years before working at Hannah's Place. Ellen enjoyed volunteering her time at the community building, reading books and her cats. Ellen received an award from Governor Terry Branstad for her volunteer efforts. She was a member of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1963; her parents; a son, Allen Aswegan; and 15 brothers and sisters.

Ellen is survived by her son, Elden and his wife Alys Aswegan of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Margaret Aswegan of Stout and Mary and her husband Wally Swensen of Mason City.
