Thomas J. Farris, 90, of Waterloo, passed away April 14. Funeral services were April 19 at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck. Burial followed in the Reinbeck Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Action Post #242 of Reinbeck. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, the Salvation Army, Reinbeck United Methodist Church or Samaritan's Purse of Franklin Graham Ministries.

Thomas Jefferson Farris was born on March 26, 1925, the son of Robert and Opal (Cornelius) Farris. He grew up attending schools in Tennessee and Illinois, graduating from business school in Illinois. Thomas served in the United States Navy for three years during World War II. On June 24, 1950, Thomas married Pauline Waddill. They had lived in Grundy Center and Eldora before moving to Reinbeck in 1957. Thomas worked as a regional sales representative for the Moorman Feed Company.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Cindy (Steve) Gerhard of Grundy Center, Mary (Gordon) Vaughan of Cedar Falls and Angie (Mark) Bishop of Navarre, FL; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson; a sister; and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son; and two brothers.
