Mildred Langenberg, 91, of Grundy Center, formerly of Calvin West in Des Moines, died April 22 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center. Funeral services were April 24 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Mildred was born August 24, 1912, the daughter of Anton and Emma (Hamann) Schap. She graduated from Stockton High School, Stockton, IL. On September 7, 1932, she was united in marriage to Rev. Fred J. Langenberg. They served Presbyterian churches in Dakota, IL, George, IA, and 19 years in Grundy Center. From 1959 to 1961 she was secretary for the Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Drake University in Des Moines. Then she assisted her husband in his position as General Presbyter for Northwest and North Central Presbyteries.

She is survived by her son, Leland and his wife Marian of Johnston; her daughter, Marcia and her husband T. J. Heronimus of Grundy Center; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Schap and his wife Gloria of East Dubuque, IL; and a sister-in-law, Priscilla Schap of Grand Rapids, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers.
