Mina May Knaack, 62, of Gladbrook passed away April 3, 2004, from complications of Multiple Sclerosis.
Mina was born May 22, 1941, in Marshalltown to John and Beulah (Bosch) Dahms. She graduated from Gladbrook Community School in 1959. She was united in marriage April 22, 1960 to Melvin Wayne Knaack. They farmed and raised their family in the Lincoln and Gladbrook communities. Mina also worked at the Grundy Memorial Hospital, Westbrook Acres Nursing Home, and Iowa Veterans Home.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church N.E.W. Sunday school class, Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women, where she was Vice President for two years. She directed Chancel and Junior Choirs. She was a member of Sweet Adelines of Marshalltown, Golden Heirs, God's Heirs, Crystal Friendship Club, and Reinbeck Saddle Club.
She is survived by Melvin Knaack, Gladbrook; her three children Marcia Knaack, Des Moines; Mary Bolin, Ankeny; Mark Knaack, Gladbrook; four grandchildren Brandon and Madison Bolin, Zachery and Katelyn Knaack; and two sisters Maralee Sarasio, Des Moines and Joyce Devine, Farmington Hills, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mina was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1967. She had her body donated to Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center to further the research of Multiple Sclerosis.
Services were held at the United Methodist Church, Gladbrook on April 17. Memorials may be sent to either the United Methodist Church in Gladbrook or the Iowa Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
