Chester William "Bill" Ladd, 64, of Manning, passed away on March 29 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services were held on April 1 at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. Burial was in the Reinbeck Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242. A memorial fund was being established.

Chester William Ladd was born on June 26, 1939, the son of Charles and Arlene (House) Ladd. Following his education, "Bill" entered the United States Navy, serving on the destroyer USS Jonas Ingram. After his discharge he worked as a Journeyman Craftsman in the construction industry.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and three brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his eight brothers and sisters including, Enez Rush and Zatha Brubaker, both of Reinbeck.
