Elmer Francis Colin, 83, of Grundy Center, formerly of Conrad, died February 19 at the Grundy Care Center. Funeral services were February 21 at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.

Elmer was born July 21, 1920, the son of Jake and Etta Ruth (Hail) Colin. He had attended Ozark Country School. He later worked at John Deere in Waterloo as a foundry worker until his retirement in 1981. He served in the US Navy during WWII and belonged to the Ehrig-McTurk Post #127 American Legion in Gladbrook. Mr. Colin also belonged to Local #838 United Auto Workers. On March 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Doris M. Lynch.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Laura (Loren) Heeren of Cedar Falls; three sons, Robert (Sandi) Colin of Urbandale, David (Kathy) Colin of Conrad and Roger (Stephanie) Colin of Fort Dodge; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
