Agnes Mackie, 90, of Grundy Center, died February 13, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. Funeral services were February 16 at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Shepherd's Children's Home in Union Grove, Wisconsin or to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Agnes was born December 3, 1913, the daughter of Dan Sr. and Cora (VanMill) Dooyema. She grew up in the Leota area and later attended Grundy College Academy in Grundy Center where she met her future husband, Harvey C. Mackie. They were married on February 13, 1934. Harvey and Agnes farmed in rural Grundy Center for 30 years. They retired in 1965 and moved to Grundy Center. In August of 2002 Harvey and Agnes moved to Arlington Place.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center. She taught Sunday School for many years, sang in the choir, played the piano and was an active member of the Mission Union. She was a student of the Bible and graduated from the Scofield Correspondence Course sponsored by Moody Bible Institute.

She was known for her cooking, baking, sewing, darning and quilting. Her love for her family was never-ending. She was truly a servant, always putting others first. Her life was marked by devotion to her family and love for her Lord.

Agnes is survived by her son, Vernon Mackie and wife Betty of Grundy Center; daughter, Marceline Romig and husband Dave of Midlothian, VA; a sister, Jeanette Postema of Holland, MI; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Dan, Ed, Clarence, Charley, Harry and Gerrit Dooyema; and sisters, Cora Steenstra and Nellie VanderZee.
