Donald M. Palmer, 87, of Reinbeck, died January 13 at the Parkview Manor Care Center in Reinbeck. Funeral services were January 17 at the Reinbeck United Methodist Church. A private family burial was held in the Grant Township Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242. A memorial fund is being established.

Donald Murray Palmer was born on November 17, 1916, the son of Robert and Ruby (Murray) Palmer. Don was raised in the Reinbeck area graduating from Reinbeck High School in 1934. Don served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. On August 11, 1970, Don married Ruth Bachman. Don was employed by Pioneer Hi Bred Company for 44 years. He retired in 1982 as plant manager in Dysart.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters; two sons; seven grandchildren, and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
