Ethel M. Luiken, 76, of Grundy Center, died December 26, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. Funeral services were December 29, at Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church, rural Grundy Center. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. A memorial fund has been established.

Ethel was born December 8, 1927, in Wellsburg, the daughter of Floyd and Lydia (Peters) Bausman. Ethel graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1945. She began working at the Parkersburg State Bank until February 23, 1951, when she was united in marriage to Floyd Luiken at Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church. They began farming in Lincoln Township and farmed until 1990. That same year, they moved to Grundy Center. Floyd died January 2, 1999. Ethel continued to live in Grundy Center until 2002, when she moved to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

Ethel was a lifelong member of Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church. She was a member of Ladies Aid and Sunshine Circle. Ethel was an excellent cook. She was also an avid sports fan.

She is survived by one daughter, Sally Rietema and her husband Dick of Zeeland, MI; one son, Jim Luiken and his wife Shiela of Grundy Center; one sister, Minerva Juel and her husband Chuck of Stout; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons, one great-step-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; and her parents.
