Tillie Boekhoff, 76, of Wellsburg, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 1999 at her home in Wellsburg of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 14 at 10 a.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Burial followed in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Ackley. Pastor Kevin VerHoeven officiated.
Pallbearers were Jeff Boekhoff, Todd Boekhoff, Dean Rogers, Greg Boekhoff, Clifford Janssen and Jim Jamison.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Tillie was born on May 6, 1923 in Grundy county the daughter of Henry C. and Hermina (Boelman) Janssen. She was one of six children. Tillie received her education in rural schools near Wellsburg and Ackley.
She was married to Samuel J. Boekhoff on June 27, 1946 at the home of her parents near Ackley. Following their marriage Tillie and Sam made Wellsburg their lifetime home and were blessed with three sons.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ until July 29, 1968 when she transferred her membership to the Wellsburg Reformed Church.
Tillie and Sam are remembered for operating the Boekhoff Cafe in Wellsburg in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She later spent many years as a faithful employee of Dodger Manufacturing in Eldora.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; a son, Michael; her parents; and four brothers, George, Chris, Harley and Louie Janssen.
Those left to mourn her passage are her son, Dennis and wife Carol and five grandchildren, Kristen Boekhoff of New York City, Heather Boekhoff of Iowa City, -names removed per request-; her son, Donald and wife Jo Nel and two grandchildren, Austin Michael and Samantha Nicole Boekhoff of Cedar Rapids, one sister, Dorothy Jamison of Waterloo; and many other relatives and her beloved friends in Wellsburg.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
