Anna Hinders Services Held
Funeral services for Anna Vanderwerf Hinders were held Saturday, February 15, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Wellsburg, with burial in the church cemetery.
Anna was born May 20, 1902, the daughter of Casjen and Siemtja Lindemen Vanderwerf in rural Wellsburg. She graduated from the German Township School #6 in Wellsburg.
On February 21, 1931, she was united in marriage to Walbert Hinders at her parents' home in Wellsburg. In 1932, they moved to a farm north of Ackley where they lived until Walbert's death in 1962. Anna then moved to town in Ackley.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Ackley and a member of the Willing Workers & Sunshine Circle in the church. She loved sewing, crafts, knitting, quilting and to be in her garden with her flowers. She was also very active in volunteer work at the Presbyterian Village and at her church.
She is survived by 3 sons, Frederick Vanderwerf of Wellsburg, Glenn Hinders of Eldora and Russell Hinders of Ackley; 1 daughter, Shirlene Mulder of Parkersburg; 1 sister, Sucela Eilderts of Grundy Center; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walbert; 1 grandchild; 4 sisters, Hattie, Mary, Ida and Edna; 4 brothers, William, Peter, John and Casjen.
The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home, in Ackley, was in charge of the arrangements.
