Koert Eilderts Services Held

Koert Eilderts of Ackley, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 1995, at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa, of natural causes, having attained the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 18 days.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 10, 1995, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in rural Wellsburg, Iowa, at 1:30 p.m. with Ronald Fisher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pall bearers were Brian Eilderts, Brent Eilderts, Weldon Ubben, Nathan Stahl, Justin Stahl, Waylon Stahl, and Wesley Ubben.

Born March 20, 1910, in Butler county, Iowa, Koert was the son of Geert (George) and Stientje Staas Haats Eilderts. He received his education in Butler county country schools. On February 12, 1935, Koert was united in marriage to Sucela Vanderwerf at her parents' home. He farmed in Grundy and Franklin counties for many years. On August 28, 1995, he became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Koert was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in rural Wellsburg where he was a member of the Brotherhood and served on the church board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 grandson, Mark Eilderts, and three grandchildren in infancy, Keith Allen, Karen Jo and Gary Lynn Eilderts; 2 brothers, Dick and Harm Eilderts; 2 half-brothers; 4 half-sisters; 3 step-brothers; and 2 step-sisters.

Survivors include his wife Sucela; two sons, Wendell Eilderts of Newton, and Bernard Eilderts and wife LaVonne of Grundy Center; two daughters, Marilyn Ubben and husband Wilbert of Aplington, and Carolyn Stahl and husband Larry of Holland; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nettie Jungling and husband Folkert of Aplington, and Christina Freese and husband, Herman, of Dumont.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of funeral arrangements.
