Grace Rieken Services Held

Grace Rieken, 87, of Ackley, passed away Thursday, May 5, at Hampton Health Care Center, Hampton.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9, at St. John's U.C.C. in Ackley with Rev. Charles Kurtz officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, rural Wellsburg.

Grace was born August 29, 1906, the daughter of Jake and Ockjelena DeBuhr Rieken in Ackley. She attended school at German Township #2.

She was a receptionist at Russell-Lamson Hotel in Waterloo and also for Dr. Golinvaus Chiropractic in Waterloo. She was a Sunday School teacher at St. Peter's U.C.C. in Wellsburg and St. John's U.C.C. in Ackley. She was a member of St. John's U.C.C. in Ackley.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Richard and Irvin; 1 sister, Alice VanTiger; and a niece, Marlene Crax.

Survivors include a brother, Harvey Rieken of Ackley; 2 nieces, Dolores Gerdes of Houston, Texas, and Rosemary Sicard of Ackley; 6 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces.

Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home in Ackley was in charge of the arrangements.
