Mrs. Minnie Hoffa Services Monday
Services were held Monday for Mrs. Minnie Hoffa of 1208 4th St., Grundy Center at 1:30 at the American Lutheran Church with Rev. Kermit Rye officiating. Interment was made in the Rosehill cemetery.
Mrs. Hoffa was taken to the Grundy County Memorial Hospital on November 28, and died the following day of an apparent heart attack. She reached the age of 81 years and 8 days.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Kermit Rye, who sang "In the Garden", and "Just A Closer Walk with Thee". Mrs. Dale Fink accompanied, and also played selected prelude and postlude numbers. Pallbearers were Randy Hoffa, Arnold Dixon, George Sharp, Albert Dekker, E. H. Henricks, Ben P. Riekena. Wayne Lynch and Art Lynch were ushers. Mrs. Elmer Delfs and Mrs. Melvin Tack were in charge of the flower arrangements.
She was born November 21, 1892 in Lyon county, Iowa, the daughter of Christopher and Grace Muhring Boike. They moved to Grundy county where she attended Melrose township school. She was united in marriage to Jacob Daniel Hoffa on December 7, 1916 at Sanborn, Iowa. They farmed northwest of Grundy Center, before operating a service station west of Grundy Center. They moved to town in 1939. Mr. Hoffa passed away April 17, 1958.
Mrs. Hoffa was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Grundy Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jess (Margaret) Menter Jr. of Marshalltown, two sons, Daniel C. of Downers Grove, Ill., Merle D. of Memphis, Tennessee, and eight grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers, and two sisters.
Engelkes-Abels Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
