Funeral Saturday In Wellsburg For Harley H. Janssen

Harley H. Janssen, 44, a former Wellsburg barber, died early Thursday morning of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ of Wellsburg, with Pastor Ronald Fisher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Special music during the service was provided by soloist Mrs. Ronald Fisher and organist Mrs. Allen Spieker. Mrs. Alvin Lindaman and Mrs. Eldon Loots were flower attendants.

Casket bearers were Dr. Dennis Boekhoff, Clifford Janssen, Gloy Lindaman, Eldon Loots, Alvin Lindaman and Wendell Lindaman.

Graveside military rites were performed by members of Wellsburg Amvet Post No. 91 and American Legion Post No. 213.

The deceased was 44 years, nine months and 11 days old at the time of his sudden death.

Harley Henry Janssen was born April 13, 1929, on a farm in Pleasant Valley township northeast of Wellsburg, the son of Henry C. and Hermine Boelman Janssen. He received his education at rural schools in the Wellsburg area.

In 1965 he was united in marriage to Myra Erdman at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple made their home in Marshalltown.

He was confirmed in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ of Wellsburg.

Harley was engaged in the barbering business in Wellsburg for many years and for the past 15 years he was a salesman for a securities and investments firm.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Janssen.

Those who survive are: his wife, Mrs. Myra Janssen of St. Anthony; 2 sons, David and Darren Janssen; two sisters and two brothers: Chris Janssen of Ames; (Tillie) Mrs. Sam Boekhoff of Wellsburg; Louis Janssen of Reinbeck; (Dorothy) Mrs. Cletus Jamison of Phoenixville, Pa. and many other relatives and friends.
