Services Held For M. B. Meinders

Funeral services for Martin B. Meinders, 75, of Aplington, who died Sunday evening at his home of an apparent heart attack, were held on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 16th, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ with Pastor Ronald Fisher officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery under the direction of Engelkes Funeral Home.

Martin B. Meinders, son of Brunke and Anna Van Heiden Meinders, was born in Grundy County, Iowa on May 19, 1898. He received his education in the County School System. Following his marriage on Feb. 13, 1924 with Miss Anna Hook they began farming on the Meinders farm 2 1/2 miles northwest of Buck Grove and even after retiring from active farming this continued to be the family home. He was a long time member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ of rural Wellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, and one sister. Surviving are his wife, Anna; one son, Ben of Aplington; two daughters, Irene (Mrs. Siebe Frey) of Holland and Miss Esther Meinders of Clear Lake; one brother, Ed of Toledo, Ohio and one sister, Miss Marie Meinders of Aplington; one granddaughter and one son-in-law as well as a number of other relatives.
