Funeral Services For Anna K. Wiarda Held Fri., July 3
Anna Katherine Wiarda was born the daughter of William and Elkea Wiarda September 23, 1884 in Grundy County. It was here that she spent the early years of her life. In 1917 the family moved to a farm in Butler County, and to the town of Aplington in 1919.
During her years in Aplington, Anna was employed in various town businesses.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized July 22, 1923 by the Rev. H. W. Wedel, and received into the membership of the Aplington Baptist Church. She remained a faithful and loyal member of her church as long as health permitted. She was also a member of the Benevolent Society of the church.
In 1960 Miss Wiarda left Aplington to make her home in Ackley with a niece. After a fall in which she broke her leg, she moved to Reiner's Nursing Home in Dumont where she remained until the time of her passing.
She suffered a stroke several days ago, and passed from this life Wednesday morning, July 1, having attained the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 8 days.
Preceding her in death were her parents, four sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by one brother, Robert of Ackley; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was conducted Friday afternoon, July 3, from the Fritz Funeral Home in Ackley, with the Rev. Donald Patet, pastor of the Aplington Baptist Church, officiating. Mrs. H. W. Ricksmeier served as organist. Mrs. Bernard Pelleymounter provided vocal music. Pallbearers included Dean Wiarda, Robert Janssen, Bernard Wiarda, Fred Wiarda, Raymond Janssen, and Ben Wiarda. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Wellsburg, Iowa.
