Miss Ruth Rotgers Dies at Ellsworth Hospital Saturday

Miss Ruth Rotgers passed away Saturday evening, December 7, at Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls, where she had been a patient for several weeks.

A lifelong resident of this area, she was born near Austinville in Butler county, December 22, 1896, the daughter of John and Hiska Rotgers.

Most of her life was spent in Ackley, where she cared for her invalid sister, Katie, and worked in Dentel's store for 31 years.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and had been a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir and a member of the Helping Hand Society.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Engelhart, Roger and Dick Rotgers; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Pohlman and Miss Katie Rotgers.

She is survived by three sisters, Hattie (Mrs. Henry) Boekholder, Ackley, Edith (Mrs. Floyd) Green, Iowa Falls, and Gertie (Mrs. John) Shugar, Ackley.

Prayer service was held at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, at Brandt's Funeral Home, and funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Heinbuch at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ. Interment was in the West Friesland Church cemetery.
