Lifelong Resident, Eno T. Harken, Dies At Hospital Sunday

Eno T. Harken passed away at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, October 28, at Allen Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. He had been a patient at the hospital since the previous Wednesday.

Mr. Harken, son of Isebrandt and Sarah Brass Harken, was born July 14, 1890, near Austinville. He resided all his life on the family farm just south of Austinville, and attended a rural school close to the family home. In addition to his farming, Mr. Harken also was a Pfister seed corn salesman for 28 years.

On January 26, he and Hannah Deters were married. Mrs. Harken died on October 12, 1959. Their only son, Kenneth, preceded his father in death by just a week, on October 21.

Mr. Harken was a member of the Westfriesland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving him are three daughters, Mildred (Mrs. Harm Ubben) of Aplington, Evelyn (Mrs. William Keninger) of Ackley, Merna (Mrs. Gordon Sietsema) of Hampton; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Harken of Aplington and Isebrandt Harken of Jesup; and three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Rykena, Mrs. Martha Stubbe and Miss Anna Harken, all of Ackley.

Funeral services were held at the Westfriesland Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. William Seybert, following prayer service at Brandt's Funeral Home. Interment was in the church cemetery.
