Services for Miss Katie Rotgers who died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo Wednesday morning, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ. The prayer service for the family will be at Brandt's funeral home at 1:15 p.m. The Rev. John Heinbuch will be the officiating minister. Burial will be in the West Friesland cemetery.
Miss Rotgers was born in Germany April 28, 1888. She came to the United States with her parents, John and Hiska Geiken Rotgers at the age of one year. They lived in the Austinville area a few years before moving to Ackley.
Miss Rotgers contracted polio when she was 13 years old and has been an invalid since then. Most of her time was spent in her chair and two years ago she became bedfast. She was a talented seamstress and spent many hours sewing. Her sister, Ruth, with whom she made her home, cared for her until she was taken to the hospital.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. John Shugar and Miss Ruth Rotgers, Ackley; Mrs. Floyd Green, Steamboat Rock; and Mrs. Henry Boekholder, Ackley. Three brothers, Roger, Dick and Engelhardt and one sister, Mrs. Frank Pohlman, preceded her in death.
