Mrs. Nancy Harken Succumbs to Long Illness Thursday

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the West Friesland Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Nancy Harken, with the Rev. Norman Flink officiating. Prayer service for the family was held at the Fritz Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Harken passed away Thursday, January 28, in the Ahrens Nursing Home in Hampton.

She was born February 14, 1884 in Grundy county, the daughter of John and Nancy Janssen. On February 20, 1909 she and Ubbe Harken were married, and they lived on farms in this area.

Mrs. Harken had belonged to the West Friesland Presbyterian Church since 1911.

Mr. Harken died in 1954 and three sons also preceded their mother in death.

Surviving are three children: Amanda (Mrs. Wendell Eldred) of Albuquerque, N.M.; Harold of Ackley, and Ruth (Mrs. Ernest Nicholas) of Waterloo; three sisters, Dinah (Mrs. William Younker), Fanny (Mrs. Herman Schultz), and Hattie (Mrs. Reuben Weber); and one brother, Henry J. Janssen, all of Ackley; also eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
