Mrs. Maggie Siemers Dies At Nursing Home

Mrs. Maggie Siemers, who spent the early part of her life on a north Grundy farm, died at a nursing home in Waterloo of complications due to advanced age, last Wednesday. She was 85 years old.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fisher at Ackley and later at the West Friesland church. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. Siemers was born in Germany April 27, 1867. Her maiden name was Maggie Zwagerman. She came to this country when she was a young girl and in 1887 she was married to Herman Siemers. The couple made their home on a Grundy county farm three miles east of Ackley until 1919 when they retired and moved to Ackley. Mr. Siemers died Feb. 3, 1937. Three weeks after the death of the husband and father, the daughter, Mrs. Carl Bond, died.

Surviving are one son, Herman, of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters, Anna Siemers, Waterloo, Mrs. Joe Fischer, Ackley; Mrs. Carl Petersen, Charles City. There are 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
